i rented the show 'Apocalypto' to watch yesterday. gosh, it was really damn sick and gory!
the story was based on ancient Central American civilisation before Christopher Columbus touched ground on that place. the types of tattoos and piercings they had were quite disgusting. but the more i looked at it, the more cool they seem. haha!
the movie depicted the lifestyle of these tribal people and what stunned me the most was their religion. the story's main character's village was attacked by some other tribe (seemingly very very much stronger and evil and cowardly) and they were taken as captives. the tribe attacked their village during dawn when most villagers were asleep and unaware. really a despicable way to attack someone unprepared. but i can't deny that it is the best way to win your enemy. haha. just that i viewed it from the defender's point of view and found it unfair.
anw, they were taken captive and brought back to the attacker's village. apparently their village were very much like the Mayan buildings and temples. they were very much advanced than the other tribes because they seem to be living in the stone age, while the tribe that was attacked was still in the kampong stage. haha. the captives were then brought to a place where they will meet with their cruel fate: to become a religious sacrifice.
they were damn sick. on the top of the Mayan temple was the religious people and the royalty, and the bottom were the followers and ceremonial dancers. among the people were heads skewered and displayed, and at the bottom side of the temple were piles of headless bodies. apparently they were worshipping a sun god and hoping that the sacrifices will appease him. the sacrifices they used were live humans, not of their own tribe but prisoners and captives and people whom they attacked and are weaker than them.
how did they make their sacrifice? they hold their sacrifice down and using a dagger, stab the stomach. that's not all. the one stabbing will use his hands to open the wound and reach for the sacrifice's inside. he digs out his heart and then the man is dead. after which he chops off the mans head and roll it down the temple, then followed by the body. the other captives were queuing at the side of the temple and witnessing what they are going to go through. really gross and sick. they were really sick bastards. what irk me the most was that before they made the sacrifice, they will say something like the sacrifice is "unafraid and willing". everything is really they say one loh, the sacrifice have no say. they say that their god will be pleased with the sacrifice of life human hearts, and they say that the sacrifice is unafraid and willing. they dun even interview the sacrifice. i would have gone mad if i were in that situation. scared like shit. imagine the last thing i see and remember before i die is someone using his hands to open my wound and reach inside for my heart. yuck!!! sick bastards!!

shots were by thomas!
