i've been visiting the animals these days: bird park, zoo, night safari.
they are arranged according to the level of excitement and fun. haha.

bird park was alright.
the best thing there is the penguin!
the way they walk is damn cute!
i feel like giving them a ^5 on their flippers! haha.

this one seems to be entertaining itself with the mirror. must be a newcomer. is it mambo?

zoo was better than bird park.
there are more things to see and the otters are very cute as well!
i didn't know that they like to hide their food in order to get more.
such greedy animals.

night safari is the best!
i just got back and i'm very proud of Singapore now.
it's a MUST SEE attraction!
the ambient is very tribal, sets the mood for excitement.
and the tram ride was very enjoyable, non-carnivorous animals roam around freely and you can see them right beside you on the tram!
not only the tram ride, they have trails to be explored.
i've only managed to do the leopard trail today.
very exciting!
it's quite dark, you can't really see much of what is in front of you, surrounded by mother nature and some animals..
there's some element of suspense and thrill, damn cool! i love it!
and we ventured into this enclosure with bats inside.
they are fruit bats, and there is no such thing as a blood-sucking bat.
i came very close to the bats, maybe about 50cm away from it without any glass panels of barriers.
i find it quite cool when they spread their wings and stretch.
they were hanging upside down on the tree branches.
when they start to move and turn back to hang upright, BECAREFUL!
because they are going to take a piss.
bats hang upright and pee anywhere they want, then they hang upside down again.
so they don't pee upside down and drink their own pee. haha.

overall, it is very different to view the animals at night, and it is a must to walk the trails!

today i visited the Asian Civilisation Museum!

the exhibits were very interesting.

some of the asian statues seem demonic.

this is what the coolies wore, baggy jeans. haha. they say that dragon eyes were painted on the front of the boat as a symbol of strength and direction.

this is the winning duck from the million dollar duck race. pretty lame. lol.

it is said that this is buddha's footprint. this explains for the 7.5cm. but i guess this footprint is just symbolic. haha. not supposed to be exact.

this is the 'ma zhu' shrine.

this piece of fabric is hand-knitted.

those who knitted this went blind because it was so fine and strong.

something that came up to my mind.
not trying to be offensive, but just a thought.

i visited the buddha tooth relic temple today at chinatown.
it's quite interesting.
usually you see buddha sitting on a lotus.
but the buddha at the buddha tooth relic is sitting on a chair.
so it looks like some throne, and everything is made of gold.
gold buddha, gold chair, and above buddha there was a dragon painting on the ceiling.
usually you see this in the china royal palace.
overall, the temple is damn zai.
very nice, very majestic.
2 lifts with padded interior, and lots and lots of statue.
if you've contributed, you even get a small space to put a plaque at their rooftop garden.
$62 million, 420kg of pure gold, studded with 600 rubies, emeralds and pearls, that should be it.
i guess they're trying to exalt buddha and give him glory.

i was thinking, wouldn't it be better to use the $65 million and help the poor?
wouldn't that be what buddha teaches and want?
but i guess that is a temple, a place where you want to offer only the best to God, giving God all the glory.

apart from the temple, the tooth.
yes, articles about it say it belongs to some herbivore.
probably a cow or buffalo.
i saw the tooth and it's ridiculously huge for a human being.
how can a human's tooth be that long? if i remember correctly, articles reported it as about 7.5cm long.
can your mouth fit a tooth 7.5cm long?
buddha is a human, or unless you tell me buddha is something else?
even articles state that legend has it that 4 tooths, but 2 have surfaced.
1 in china and 1 in sri lanka.
i dunno abt the 2, but i think it should be of a normal size, since no articles have cited anything about comparing with the other 2 tooths.
so i guess the one in Singapore is weird. haha.
hmmm.. and i'm quite curious as to how the Myanmar monk derives that what he found is the buddha's tooth.

some argue that by faith you believe.
i have no doubt about the sentence, but i have doubt in what i am seeing.
seeing is believing, but not seeing yet believing is faith.
having faith but not questioning and reviewing the faith is blind faith, faith of no value and no strong backing, not sure of what you are believing.
i don't have much views about what buddha teaches, but i have some views about that tooth.
i think buddha will be quite sad if he knew that people mistook a herbivore's tooth to be his.

apart from that, i saw that the 'guan yin' has a thousand hands.
reminded me of the 'guan yin' i saw before in the temple at toa payoh.
i was curious as to why she has a thousand hands, so i asked around and was told that it was so that 'guan yin' can help many people.
maybe also symbolising that she can help many people.

a private thought (now made public i guess.. haha.) that came to my mind "guan yin needs a thousand hands to help people, Jesus needs only two and He can heal the blind, do miracles, and save the whole world!"
how great and wonderful is that?

you may ask me, how can two hands save the world?
i would say He is the Almighty, the Alpha and Omega.
He is the SUPER STRONG GOD!

maybe it's a little bit crazy to believe, but i believe in Jesus!

going to the ethnic quarters really opened my 'sua gu' eyes.

it provided great insight as to how our forefathers lived in Singapore.

the buildings there are preserved heritage, and all had peepholes from the second level to see who's at the first level. haha.

i think its quite a good design.

i heard stories before like they will pour urine down the peephole if they don't like you and you're not welcomed.

another use is to drop the keys to level 1, saving the hassle of going one big round from 2nd level to 1st.

today's chinatown trip was quite fun and interesting.

i never thought that the chinese medicine would be so disgusting.

this is quite disgusting! like dried lizard! i think this is just to scam western tourists. haha.

this is a statue of a samsui woman outside the heritage museum at chinatown. everyone should visit it at least once in their lifetime! eye-opener!

other than going to chinatown today, took the river cruise along the singapore river.
it was nothing really fantastic lah.. just normal loh.
maybe because i'm a Singaporean that's why.. haha.
